100 Years of Hope and Healing
Celebrating a Century of Care
In 1924, Ethel Harpst marched up the hill in Cedartown, establishing what has become Murphy-Harpst Children’s Centers. Over the last 100 years we’ve provided hope and healing to hundreds of Georgia’s children.
History of Hope
Today we live out the legacy of care established by Ethel Harpst and Sarah Murphy, making room for the most vulnerable children across the state. Learn all about our history of hope and healing.

Help Us Spread the Word
Host An Event
We’re looking for partners across the state to host events and parties to help spread the word about Murphy-Harpst. Consider any of the following:
- Host a foster-care awareness dinner to recruit specialized foster care parents.
- Coordinate a 10K or bike-a-thon fundraiser.
- Bring a team to campus for a landscaping or property repair service project.
- Sponsor an event for residents such as an on-campus Summer Fun Friday or an outing to a sporting or theatrical event.
- Organize an in-kind supply drive for school supplies, hygiene kits or art therapy materials.
Support our Mission
While some of the essential needs of our children are met through state funding, private donations give us the ability to provide critical services that truly heal our children and allow them to achieve their potential and lead successful lives.
