What a year it has been! Murphy-Harpst Children’s Center is thrilled to wrap up our centennial anniversary with a look back at an incredible year of milestones and achievements.

From receiving prestigious awards to launching innovative programs, we’ve been hard at work fulfilling our mission to deliver exceptional care to Georgia’s foster children. Here are some of the highlights:

Just days after celebrating our 100th anniversary at a special gala in Atlanta, Murphy-Harpst was named the 2024 Outstanding Agency by the Georgia Conference on Children and Families. This award recognizes our unwavering dedication to providing outstanding service to children in need.

Meeting the Growing Need

Georgia has seen a recent surge in foster care cases, and Murphy-Harpst is committed to providing a safe haven for vulnerable youth. Our programs consistently earn A or A+ ratings on Georgia Scorecards, reflecting our commitment to the highest standards of care.

Expanding Our Reach

Our Evolve initiative continues to grow! We opened two new homes in Augusta this year, with three more planned for 2025. This innovative program provides a supportive family setting with round-the-clock therapeutic services. We’re proud to report that Evolve has helped 82% of participants decrease destructive behaviors and nearly 90% increase life skills.

More Reasons to Celebrate

  • Served over 200 youth across 50 Georgia counties
  • Facilitated 36 adoptions or family reunifications
  • Provided over 2,700 individual and 300 group therapy sessions
  • Helped 11 youth gain employment and 8 obtain their GED or high school diploma
  • Raised over $1.95 million in fiscal year 2023-24
  • One student began university studies
